JOh well, the 5th test also showed it: I was pregnant with our first child! So happy and so exciting. Fortunately, the ultrasounds and tests turned out to be good and it was time to enjoy the pregnancy.
Enjoying and preparing for the arrival of our baby. Because you have to arrange so much before the birth and afterwards! A midwife, maternity care, insurance, baby care, delivery plan, etc. And not unimportantly... childcare! It feels a bit early and surreal to think about this during pregnancy, but this is certainly necessary, especially in Amsterdam. My husband and I both work full-time, but neither wanted our child to go to daycare for 5 days after my maternity leave (of 3 months). He's still so small! Do not get me wrong; I think that there are very good and fun crèches in Amsterdam and that it is certainly important for a child's development to come into contact with other children at an early age, but I personally prefer this only from 1 years old to do.
So then the next question came: what then? Soon my husband and I both decided to work one day less so that we have a 'mom day' and a 'dad day'. So we were looking for a shelter for three days. After investigating various options, we ended up with a Nanny at home through Amsternannies. We found the advantages of this that the little one simply stays safely at home in his own environment and always has the same, trusted Nanny. We first had a no-obligation intake interview at our home, but Evelien and Dorine made us feel so comfortable that we were convinced that we would find a nice, reliable and enthusiastic Nanny with them. In addition, it gives a good feeling that if the permanent Nanny is unavailable due to illness or vacation, for example, Amsternannies will arrange a replacement.
A month before my due date we met our Nanny Roos and there was an immediate connection.
I now gave birth to our son Guus 4 months ago! Everything is going well and I am now happy to be back at work. Nanny Roos comes to babysit three days a week: wonderful to go out in the morning and know that Guus is in good hands and is having a pleasant day with Roos. During the day Roos sends us nice photos of Guus; invaluable when you're sitting behind your desk! When my husband and I come home from work, the house is tidy, the shopping has been done and we take a wonderfully satisfied little man into our arms! Super!
