Information for Nannies

VThrough Amsternannies you come into contact with the nicest families in Amsterdam. You can babysit for a fixed (afternoon) day or on a more flexible basis.

We make a distinction between Nannies and Premium Nannies, where the Premium Nannies have followed one or more training courses with us and can commit to a fixed day with a family for at least four months.

Premium or not; In both cases you have a lot of experience in babysitting children of different ages. You are proactive, flexible and enjoy helping with housework, such as shopping, cooking and ensuring that the house is tidy at the end of the day.
While babysitting, you enjoy engaging in educational and age-related activities with the children.

  • As a Nanny you can babysit on a flexible or permanent basis; occasionally an evening and (mid) day or weekly at a fixed time.

  • To become a Premium Nanny, you follow one or more training courses with us and you can commit to a permanent family for at least 4 months. Your hourly rate is therefore higher, namely €15.00 per hour.

  • If you really have a lot of experience with newborn babies, you can also work with us as a Maternity Nanny or Night Nanny.

  • In addition, as a nanny you can also babysit at various events or go on holiday with families.

Payment to you as Nanny

You work at Amsternannies via the Home Services Regulations.
You do not have an employment contract with us. You can find more information about the Scheme here find.

Nanny Academy

WDo you also want to work as a Premium Nanny and are you available for a family for at least 4 months? Then follow our Nanny Academy and get a higher hourly rate. As a Premium Nanny with demonstrable baby experience, you can also work as a Maternity and Night Nanny. During the Nanny Academy you will receive pedagogical training from a pedagogue and remedial educationalist. The costs for attending the Nanny Academy are €29.95.

As a Premium Nanny, we also expect you to take the Pediatric First Aid course. You can register for this monthly.

FAQ for nannies

Why do I have to pay €49.95 for the Nanny Academy?2023-07-28T13:28:25+00:00

The Nanny Academy was developed by a Pedagogue and Orthopedagogue and is offered by us with great pleasure. We also expect a certain commitment and responsibility from the Nannies who register for this. That is why a minimum contribution is requested, lunch and coffee are also offered during the course.

After the Academy you can work as a Premium Nanny and earn a higher hourly wage of €15.00.

How can I get started as a Maternity or Night Nanny?2023-09-12T11:27:49+00:00

If you have a lot of experience with newly born babies, you can take the Maternity Nanny course with us.
Once you have completed this, you can start working as a Maternity and/or Night Nanny.

Once I have completed the Nanny Academy, can I definitely start working as a Premium Nanny? Do I always get €15.00 per hour?2023-07-28T13:18:46+00:00

In principle, we deploy the Premium Nannies to families who need them and also pay that hourly rate. It may happen that at a certain time there is a demand for a Nanny, but not specifically for a Premium Nanny. We will then present this to you, whether you want to start somewhere or whether you would rather wait for another request.

Amsternannies is a solution for me; I can always work on a flexible basis. Sometimes I babysit for a whole day, but also a lot of evenings. I helped give (expressed) milk, gave the girls a bath and spent hours walking around with them in the baby carrier and cuddling on the couch. I didn't want to start a job straight away after graduating, so this will work very well for me in the coming months. I can indicate whether or not I can accept a family and we often discuss what hours I will come.

  • Every Monday I pick up Philip and Anna from school with the cargo bike. Often at least one friend comes along and we all go to the playground in the afternoon. At the end of the afternoon I have to go to hockey training with Philip and I play a game with Anna in the clubhouse or we play hockey together on a field. I hope I can babysit here for a long time :-)

  • I have been babysitting three children in Amsterdam Center for 2.5 years. I pick them up from school with the cargo bike at 2:45 PM. We usually stay in the schoolyard to play for a while or take friends home with us. On Thursday afternoon I have to go to football training with them. At the end of the afternoon I cook for the children and eat with them. For me it is easy to combine with my working groups in the morning and I like that the days always look different with children.
