OChristmas is finally just under two weeks away. There are many fun activities to do with the children during the Christmas holidays in Amsterdam. Many streets are decorated in this way: the nine streets are beautifully decorated with numerous lights!
Hot chocolate
Almost every child loves hot chocolate with whipped cream. Below is a list of places you can enjoy a cup of chocolate milk together:
- Pluk Amsterdam at Berenstraat 19 and Reestraat 19
- Pampadour Amsterdam at Huidenstraat 12
- Bakery Wolf at Wolvenstraat 22
- Caffènation at Warmondstraat 120
- Corner Bakery Amsterdam on the Koningin Wilhelminaplein 60-62
Cookies
And if you are in the nine streets, you cannot just pass by the Koekemannetje. There you can get the tastiest cookies for those cozy evenings at home this Christmas. Het Koekemannetje is located at Runstraat 3.
Christmas tree
There will be a very large Christmas tree in the middle of Dam Square at Christmas: this is definitely worth seeing together!
Ice skating on Rembrandtplein
The skating rink on Rembrandtplein is a fun outing with the children! You can skate there until January 7, 2024, with your own skates or you can rent them there.
Winter paradise
The Amsterdam Winter Paradise is also coming again. It is in and around the RAI in Amsterdam and will be completely transformed into a winter paradise. You can skate indoors and outdoors, take a ride on the Ferris wheel, go to the cinema or theater and listen to the performances that are given. There are also all kinds of food and drink stalls on the site. There is a craft corner, slides, a snow track, carousel and much more. The winter paradise is available from December 14 to 30, 2023.
World Christmas Circus in Carré
The World Christmas Circus takes place in Carré from December 20 to January 7. A fun outing for young and old! From clowns to acrobats: there are many different acts.
Holiday on ICE
On December 28, 29 and 30 there will be a show on the ice at the RAI in Amsterdam. Based on a story, a beautiful performance is given: the most successful ice show in the world. This year they have been around for 80 years, so it is unlikely to be a big spectacle.
Hortus By Night
Be enchanted by the glittering lights in the garden and walk in the colorful illuminated greenhouses. You can admire the beautiful garden between December 21-23, December 27-30 or January 2-7. On Wednesday evenings there is an exciting storyteller by the fire on the Orangery terrace and you can also take a night safari to discover the secrets of the Hortus. These activities are fun for children from 6 to 12 years old.
Freek Spark Live
You can go on an adventure with Freek Vonk in AFAS live. Freek Vonk will be performing his new show 'Animals in the Dark' on December 28 and 29. In the adventurous and educational family show, Freek Vonk takes you on a spectacular journey full of exciting encounters with special animals all over the world.
King's Palace
The Palace is occasionally used by the king. But when the king is not there, you can enter! There is plenty to do, including an exciting treasure hunt. Special audio tours for children and adults ensure that the whole family becomes acquainted with the impressive history of this special building in a playful way.
