SInterklaas has returned to Spain and that means Christmas is just around the corner. The Christmas tree can be pulled out of the dust again and the homemade decorations can be made again! The holidays and this season are perfect for beautiful crafts; Crafting is always a good idea in this weather. See eight creative craft ideas below. Make sure you adapt the craft activities to the age of the children and make sure that all materials used are safe.
1. Christmas Tree Decorations:
Let children make their own Christmas tree decorations. This can range from simple paper ornaments to homemade clay or salt dough figures. You can also make very nice figures with iron-on beads that are easy to hang in the tree if you put a string through them. Make sure you get iron-on beads in the Christmas colors, so that the homemade Christmas baubles fit perfectly with Christmas!
2. Christmas cards:
Encourage children to make their own Christmas cards. The more glitter, stickers and paint; the more festive the result! You can also make nice personal Christmas cards with hands and fingerprints. Turn the handprint into a Christmas tree, reindeer or Santa Claus!
3. Pasta Christmas Trees:
Let children make their own mini Christmas tree using pasta. You usually already have this at home and it is simple to make. Cut out the shape of a Christmas tree from a cardboard box. Get different types of pasta from the kitchen drawer and get different colors of paint (for example red, green, gold and white). The children can choose which shapes they want to use and in what order. Paint the paste and stick it on the cardboard once the paste is dry.
4. Pine Cone Christmas Trees:
Collect lots of pine cones in the forest. Then you can paint them in a beautiful green color. To create a snowy Christmas tree, whiten the ends of the pine cone. For some extra decoration you can stick soft colored balls on it. It looks just like a mini decorated Christmas tree!
5. Gingerbread Houses:
If you fancy a slightly more complicated project, you can make gingerbread houses with the kids. Use graham crackers, icing and candies to build cute little houses.
6. Paper Snowmen:
Make paper snowmen by cutting circles from white paper and stacking them on top of each other. Let the kids add faces and accessories.
7. Christmas Lights:
Decorate glass jars with paint, glitter or crepe paper. They can express their own creativity with this craft! There are many examples on the internet if you secretly want a little inspiration. Place (fake) tea lights in the jars for a festive atmosphere.
8. Tea light holder:
Make different shapes from clay: stars, snowmen, Christmas trees, Christmas balls, etc. that have to do with Christmas, in which a tea light fits. Decorate this with (iron) beads or paint. This is how you make your own tea light holder. Make sure you buy clay that is made to harden so you can actually use it.
