NIt's more fun than a rainy day where you can all be indoors. But what if you have (nanny) children who are full of energy and longing for adventure, regardless of the weather? No problem! Rainy days can be a great opportunity to stimulate children's creativity and discover new adventures indoors. In this blog we dive into six fun and engaging creative activities that are perfect for rainy days.

  • Building an indoor tent

Let kids use blankets, pillows and furniture to build their own indoor tent. By building a tent, children get the idea that they can build and furnish their own house. They can play in it, read books or even have a picnic. Get the cuddly toys from the attic and let them visit the tent!

  • Search for the treasure chest

Set up a treasure hunt with clues and riddles that lead to a “treasure” somewhere in the house. Make a card with clues and put it in a bottle. As a nice addition, you can hide candy treasure chests in the final location. The children can also dress up as pirates. You can easily find fun riddles and assignments on the internet! This way you can spend a whole afternoon with this adventure.

  • Fashion show

Pull out all the (dress-up) clothes from the closet and the fashion show will begin! Put on music when the children start walking. Let them make crazy clothing combinations or just make something they like. Do an interview with the 'models' about why they chose this outfit and what it stands for. This gives them the experience that they are walking a real fashion show.

  • Story time!

Read books or tell exciting stories to the children. It is also a lot of fun to put on well-known audio books. For older children, you can assign them to write their own story and also make illustrations.

  • Indoor gardening

It is great fun to teach children about gardening and what it entails. Taking care of plants takes a lot of time and requires motivation. Plant seeds in pots and explain how plants grow. Children can water and care for their plants themselves. It is also great fun to decorate the plant pots yourself with paint, stickers or waterproof markers!

  • Olympics

Organize a series of mini games such as 'musical chairs', 'balloon volleyball', 'cardboard target shooting' or 'cookie eating'. In addition, the old-fashioned 'nail pooping' is also very funny to do with children. For this you only need a bottle, string and a nail. These are all activities that are great fun to do and you often already have the supplies at home! A nice addition is a prize/medal for the winner.
