ONew Year's Eve is a special time to celebrate and create memories with your children. Even if the kids can't stay up until midnight, there are plenty of fun activities to keep them busy all night long! From making children's champagne and organizing a mini fireworks show to making a time capsule, these activities make for a fun way to say goodbye to the old year. Here are some ideas to do together on New Year's Eve
Make children's champagne 🥂
Make “children’s champagne” by serving sparkling water or apple juice in champagne glasses. Let the kids toast the New Year with a celebratory toast! Add some fruit pieces or ice cubes to make it even more fun!
Mini fireworks show 🎆
If you don’t want to buy fireworks, you can make a “fireworks show” using glow sticks and sparklers. Have the kids make stars or light patterns with the glow sticks or go out into the yard and light sparklers.
Countdown with a balloon countdown 🎈
Create a fun countdown calendar with balloons. Hang up 12 balloons, each filled with an activity to do together (such as “dance,” “watch Christmas movie,” or “any other activity”). Each balloon is popped as it gets time to move into the new year. Make it a fun challenge to get to the last balloon!
New Year's quiz for children ❓
Organize a quiz about the past year:
- What was the best moment?
- Which song was played the most?
Reward the winners with small prizes, such as a party hat or a small gift.
Make your own oliebollen and apple turnovers 🍩🍏
Oliebollen and apple turnovers are of course part of it! It is very fun and tasty to make them together with children. Let the children decorate their oliebollen with sugar, colored sprinkles or chocolate. Be creative with the apple turnovers too. Make the apple turnovers in fun shapes, such as stars or hearts, and make baking even more festive.
Making a time capsule 📦
Create a time capsule together! Have the kids put a few of their favorite things in a box, like a drawing, a toy, or a list of their favorite things from that year. Seal it up with the intention of opening it again next year.
