YVonne is quite good at planning and has quite a bit of organizational talent, but when it comes to managing the family agenda it is always complicated.
Weekend trip
A weekend away with my only sister, booked five months in advance, turns out to coincide exactly with Quirijn's school trip and of course with my husband's barbecue at work, which he cannot miss because he is the spider in the web. Babysitting arranged, so everyone is happy. The babysitter falls ill at the last minute and all other babysitters of course already have an appointment, because it is Friday evening and also nice and summery.
Friends as babysitters
Friends who have shouted at me so many times that I really have to call them in when I'm really feeling down, coincidentally can't do it for such a short period of time. Each and every one of them makes it clear that they want to be sure. That's the nice side of an app round that doesn't immediately solve the problem, but does show that our friends are worth their weight in gold.
I am sometimes a little jealous of people around us who are blessed with four (or even more) healthy parents who also live around the corner and always seem to be able to help. Unfortunately, we don't have that luxury. Long live the girls from our babysitting agency. An organization started by two students who once had several babysitting addresses and were always asked the question that I always eagerly asked when I had somehow found a good babysitter: whether they had any friends who also babysat.
Babysitting agency
After their studies, they started their own babysitting agency together with a network of other students who babysit in their spare time. It makes me very happy that even in the evening when I'm really at a loss, I can text them that I'm sitting up and get the answer: “I'll start working on it right away tomorrow. Works 100 percent!” I'm sure they could also organize a complete Olympic Games.
