Making Fat Balls
- Melt the fat in a saucepan over low heat. Do not let it boil.
- Mix birdseed, oatmeal, and possibly raisins into the melted fat.
- Pour the mixture into cupcake liners or an empty paper cup.
- Put a string in the middle so you can hang the ball later.
- Let the balls harden in the refrigerator.
Pine Cones as a Bird Treat
- Collect large pine cones while out walking.
- Spread peanut butter (without salt) between the openings of the pine cone.
- Roll the pinecone in birdseed.
- Tie a string around the top and hang the pinecone from a tree.
Apple Rings with Birdseed
- Cut an apple into thick slices and remove the core.
- Make a hole in the top and thread a string through it.
- Spread the discs with peanut butter and press them into birdseed.
- Hang the apple rings outside.
