HIt's nice and cold again in the Netherlands and there is nothing more fun than a craft afternoon at home with the children. We have written a few craft ideas for this that are great fun to make. This makes the house even more cozy and colorful!

Decorate candles

Decorate candles with the children. You can decorate them with a special wax marker, these markers are made to use for candles so you can actually burn them. You can also simply decorate the candles with paint. How cozy to put the candles on the table!

Tea light holders

You can also decorate glass jars as tea light holder. You can make the most beautiful paintings on the glass jars with acrylic paint. You can also decorate the jars extra beautifully with different types of stickers and glitter. How nice and cozy these pots will look in the garden or at home.

Camera crafting

'Say cheese!' Let the children make a camera. You make it by painting the lid of an egg carton and sticking an upside-down egg cup on it as a lens. At the top you also stick half an egg cup so you can see through it. Attach a string and your camera is ready!

Cheerful butterflies with iron-on beads

Make these cute butterflies from a clothespin and iron-on beads. You need one chenille or iron wire per wing on which you string iron-on beads. And then you bend them into the right shape. Once you have two wings, twist them together and clamp them in a clip. Make antennae with another piece of chenille wire and a few pompoms or iron-on beads at the end. Beautiful drawings from the children can be attached to this beautiful craft.

Cork boats

Paper boats often break very quickly (and cannot float!), so it is useful and fun to make one from cork. You tie three corks together with two elastic bands. And in the middle you stick a skewer as a mast with a sail of sturdy paper. Blow into the sail with a straw and your sailboat sails! The children can also play with this in the bath.

Flies from toilet rolls

Happy flies! You make them by wrapping a toilet roll with different colors of wool. Then you fold a chenille wire around it at the front and back for the legs of the fly. Make wings from a paper circle and stick them on the back, add a pair of (wobbly) eyes and your fly is ready!

Finger painting

Finger painting is a touch activity that has many benefits for children of all ages. Younger children develop fine motor skills, color recognition and seeing how mixing colors produces different results. How nice it is for the children to be able to express their imagination on paper. This brings the most colorful paintings to life.

Make a window hanger

With this cheerful window hanger the sun always shines in your home. You make the sun by cutting the middle circle out of a paper plate. Then cut another 'ring' of about 2 centimeters from the inside of the remaining edge. And then you cut the edge points. Paint the sign and the sun rays with watercolor or decorate them in another way. And then you stick a string on the back and your summer window hanger is ready.

Hopefully we have provided inspiration for fun craft ideas and the house will soon be full of beautiful colorful works of art from the children.
